Uisge Source Highland Selection - the natural complement for Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Source: St. Colman's Well, Ross-shire. Located in the Highland region.
Characteristics: hard water, high in minerals due to filtration through porous and brittle red sandstone and limestone.
Why use it? To enhance your whisky experience. Using Highland source water with Highland whisky will 'open up' your whisky, soften the alcohol prickle, allow it to breathe, and retain the whisky's original character. If you are thinking that any water can do the same thing, then I invite you to do the Uisge Source taste test challenge.
Uisge Source Taste Test - take 4 glasses of the same malt and add a different water to each using our glass pipette - then nose and taste the differences.
A group of us did the taste test - an entertaining experience in and of itself. We tested Uisge Source Highland, tap water, distilled water, and Speyside with our Highland whisky selections (yes, we tested these on a few of them). We were very impressed. Uisge Source Highland was the favourite pairing choice for our Highland whisky selections.
How to Use Uisge Source: Add a few drops at a time until you find your ideal taste. Stronger tasting whiskies and those above 45% may need more water. Older whiskies may require less water. Serve Uisge Source at room temperature.
